Andrea COHEN


Andrea Cohen was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.She trained at the Ecole Normale Superieure de Musique in Paris, where she received a bachelor's degree in piano and chamber music performance. In 2005 she was awarded a doctorate by the University Paris-Sorbonne, where she successfully defended her theses entitled Composers and Radio Art. Since 1985 she has been a radio author and producer. She also created and performed in several staged pieces of experimental music theater. At the same time she developed educational media for elementary, secondary and university-level students. She has conducted workshops and seminars in France, UK and in Latin America. Between 2004 and 2006 she was lecturer of "Radio Art" at the Universite de Marne-la-Vallee. Currently she is an Associate Researcher at the IOCT ( Institute of Creative Technologies, De Monfort University, Leicester, UK) She has lived in Paris since 1974.

Wiska Radkiewicz received training at the Conservatory of Varsovia, Poland (composition), at the University of Paris-Sorbonne (musicology), at the Groupe de Recherches Musicales - Conservatory of Paris (electronic music composition), at the City University of New York (computer music composition), and at Princeton University, where she obtained a doctorate degree in music composition. Wiska Radkiewicz is first and foremost an electroacoustic composer who has, over the course of her career, explored various fields with highlights including pedagogical studies, audio-visual composition and creative writing. Currently she is an Associate Researcher at the IOCT ( Institute of Creative Technologies, De Monfort University, Leicester, UK) She lives and works in Roosevelt, New Jersey, USA.

Wiska Radkiewicz and Andrea Cohen produced a radio oeuvre entitled Chere toi, echanges de lettres sonores (Dear You,… An Exchange of Sound Letters). It was co-produced by the GRM (Groupe de Recherches Musicales) and ACR (Atelier de Creation Radiophonique) of French Public Radio. Dear You had its premier broadcast on December 26, 2004 on French Public Radio, France Culture. They also composed Correspondences, an electro-acoustic composition, parts of which were broadcast in a radio production entitled « 1/60ème » (One Sixtieth), again on France Culture radio, on January 8, 2006. The radio piece "A deux voix, moments" by Andrea Cohen and Wiska Radkiewicz was included in the Radio Art Complation series "Deep Wireless 7" produced by New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA) in 2010 as part of the annual Deep Wireless festival in May, a month-long celebration of radio art. NAISA is a non-profit organization that produces performances and installations spanning the entire spectrum of electroacoustic and experimental sound art. In September 2010 Andrea Cohen and Wiska Radkiewicz were invited to present the Soundson project at the conference "Electronics Meets the Challenges of the 21st Century" which took place within a new music convention "ArtMusFair" in Warsaw, Poland.
